The Gateway Cafe

The bright, airy Gateway Café is an essential part of any visit to the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh. The Gateway provides an idyllic spot to enjoy sumptuous seasonal dishes, prepared from scratch on site and making full use of vegetables and herbs handpicked from RBGE's own Kitchen Garden. 

Take your pick from warming soups, deli filled sandwiches, daily hot specials - plus, of course, a vibrant salad bar. 

In addition to ample indoor seating, the licensed Deck Bar is a perfect outdoor spot for enjoying coffee and a snack or drinks at any time of day. It's also great for al fresco lunches - like our fabulous baked-to-order pizzas. Advance booking is not required. 

Located at the bottom of the stairs in the John Hope Gateway, the Potting Shed coffee cart is a handy option for grab-and-go hot drinks.
